School & Library Visits

WORM-A-PALOOZA!

SCHOOL AND LIBRARY VISITS!

I love to do school visits!  The students are so enthusiastic!  You will notice that there are very generous discounts available.  I believe that students benefit from enrichment visitors to their schools.  While some schools may choose to spend their entire budget on one visitor, others like to have as many visitors as they can.  Let’s talk about it!

Ideal age groups are preschool through 2nd grade.  Prefer to do multiple programs per day with smaller groups especially with the younger students.

WORKSHOP A:  LET’S WRITE A STORY!

*In this workshop students learn about the process of writing.  We will explore the different parts of a story and discuss story ideas.  How does a story start?  And end?  What is revision?

*Students will then begin their own stories which can be completed at a later date on the provided story boards.

*Day long program with multiple sessions of 30-45 minutes each depending on the age of the students.

*Includes Lunch with the Author! A time for up to 10 students to eat lunch with the author and discuss their questions about books and being an author.

*All visits and lunch times must be supervised by the teaching staff.

*Cost:  $500 with very generous discounts for local schools.

WORKSHOP B:  HOW DOES A BOOK GET PUBLISHED?

*In this workshop students learn about the process of publishing and how a story goes from a manuscript to a published book.  We discuss the roles of the author and illustrator as well as agents, editors, publishers, etc.

WORKSHOP C:  LET’S TALK POETRY!  AND EARTHWORMS!  AND LOBSTERS!

*In this workshop students learn about writing poetry.  What is poetry?  Does it always rhyme?  Have rhythm?  What can you write poems about?  I’ll answer that right now!  Anything including earthworms and lobsters!
